In the 2020 Belarusian election, her husband, Valery Tsepkalo, announced his presidential run against the incumbent Alexander Lukashenko. On July 14th, 2020, he was denied registration as a candidate, and the family began receiving threats to their safety from the state government. The three opposing candidates to the incumbent united their campaigns, and following this move, Tsepkalo began representing her husband at campaign rallies and political debates. She fell under intense pressure from the government to concede the race, but persisted even after her husband fled the country with their children in fear for their safety. More of Tsepkalo’s family members began being accused of crimes and asked to testify against Valery in government-backed trials. Eventually, she fled the country the night before the election to rejoin her family and cast her vote in the presidential election.
When incumbent president Alexander Lukashenko was declared the winner of the election, Tsepkalo was among the many other Belarusian activists who called on other countries to recognize the legitimate winner of the election (Tikhanosakaya). Veronika Tsepkalo has been internationally recognized for her role in building a “free and democratic Belarus” and for advocating for women’s freedom initiatives through the spread of democracy within her home country and throughout the world.
Veronika Tsepkalo’s Distinguished Awards:
● John S. McCain Freedom Award (USA)
● Sakharov Prize (European Parliament)
● Jeane J. Kirkpatrick Award (USA)
● Luther Prize (“the intrepid word”) (Germany)
● Csoklich Democracy Prize [Austria]
● Democracy Medal (International Association of Political Consultants)
● Charlemagne Prize (Germany)

Valery Tsepkalo was formerly Belarus' First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Minsk's Ambassador to Washington, DC. In 1993, he was an adviser to the first leader of Belarus, Stanislav Shushkevich, and prepared the only visit of U.S. President to Belarus.
Founder and CEO of Belarus Hi Tech Park, largest IT park in Europe.
Valery Tsepkalo and political prisoner Viktor Babariko were major contenders to Lukashenko during the 2020 presidential elections. They together collected a record number of 600,000 signatures for their support in Belarus history. After they were both denied registration on false grounds by Lukashenko's regime, Valery Tsepkalo endorsed Svetlana Tikhanovkaya (the wife of political prisoner blogger Sergei Tikhanovsky), whom Lukashenko gave a permission to register, and asked his wife Veronica Tsepkalo and Maria Kolesnikova from Babariko team to continue campaign with only two paragraphs on their political agenda - the release of prisoners and new elections in 6 months.
This strategy became a success as the people in Belarus rose against the Lukashenko's regime to protest for the opportunity to choose their own leader during free and fair elections. Valery Tsepkalo is the highest-ranking Belarusian official who has ever participated in presidential elections. Mr. Tsepkalo has shown his commitment to promoting the institution of democracy as well as free and fair elections within Belarus. The Forum for Democratic Belarus enlisted 35 Nobel Prize laureates to sign a petition to release political prisoners in Belarus. Belarus is the key to ending the war in Ukraine.

Join the Eurasia Center as we continue to provide solutions to the difficult foreign policy questions of our time – North Korea-Ukraine-Russia, Israel-Gaza-Lebanon-Iran, China rising, and finally the coronavirus and how it continues to affect our lives. We ask ourselves tough questions:
- Are we close to seeing World War III at a movie theater nearby?
- What world will we leave for our children?
- How will we respect our planet and our environment?
- How will we address the importance of women in our society?
- Can we support the Arts as a bridge of hope between nations and use cultural diplomacy for peace and understanding?
- Will we hide in the comfort of our daily routine and our life, “our niche/bubble” and not engage ourselves in the world around us?
- Are we going to continue to live a selfish life and make the world a better place only for our immediate family and friends and not seek to help others in need; forgetting about our extended human family?
Support the Eurasia Center and its Nine Programs for Peace, Progress and Prosperity - for we believe deeply in these Nine Programs and in Building Positive Relations. Give to One or support All of Our Programs and Join our Efforts!

Letter from The America-Eurasia Center to America and Eurasia
Good Morning America and Good Morning Europe & Asia (Eurasia)
While many Americans trace their roots to the nations of Europe and Asia, some still retain their mother tongue, other descendants of our early pioneers, seek to discover their Old World heritage, one thing is certain...Europe and Asia are in chaos. Whether from the chaos of Covid-19 and its variants, Russia's war Ukraine, or the current crises in Taiwan/South China Sea or in the Middle East, with Iraq, Iran, and Afghanistan, THE WORLD IS IN CRISIS. Parts of Eurasia are on fire or waiting to explode. America, as a great power, since WWI and WWII, can either embrace "the America First mentality" and ignore the rest of the world, or decide that its founding ideals and principles are still worth inspiring other citizens around the global, as our nation can once again send a beacon of hope, as it has done from the early days of our struggle for Independence to the rest of the world, that ideals and freedoms that are the basic necessities of human dignity are worth fighting for.
We, at The America-Eurasia Center, seek to build positive relations among the nations and peoples of America, Europe and Asia(Eurasia). However, that does not mean turning a blind eye to the unjust and inhumane practices being conducted by other nations against their people and citizenry. In Russia, one man, Alexei Navalny, had the courage to voice his opposition to the theft of democracy and protest against the rampant corruption within Russia. He has risked his life to make a statement and has become a martyr for the Democracy Movement within Russia. Many people in various nations in Eurasia have had their democratic future robbed within the past several years, Afghanistan, Hong Kong, Iraq, Ukraine, Myanmar, among others. As Americans, we may not be able to influence or change the authoritarian minds of dictators ruling countries within Eurasia, but we can make it known that we do not condone such behavior. The winds of change will bring new leaders, new ideas, and new hope to those that are enslaved by their rule. The road of history is littered with failed tyrants and despots who failed by enslaving their own people and trying to expand their aggressive rule over neighboring nations and peoples.
The gift of democracy from Ancient Greece and the idea of the Republic from Ancient Rome, are part of the heritage which our Founding Fathers embraced to start the great American Experiment in Democracy. It is an experiment that survived the National Nightmare of January 6th, but as with any civil society in America or around the globe, if strong men and strong women do not stand up for their rights then radicals or usurpers can alter the very course of history and lead nations and peoples down dangerous and treacherous paths. These are the lessons of history - the demagogue, the dictator, the usurper, from ancient times until the present. Good citizens must demand a system that gives a chance for all citizens to organize and form political parties in order to enable fair elections and honest leaders to come forward and thrive. Only then can citizens be proud of their government and begin to trust their government officials, rather than having what has occurred in Belarus to continue, which is the true theft of a democratic election and the abuse of its own citizenry by a dictator-in-chief. Some may be willing to live like sheep and agree to the powers that be, yet only when good citizens unite and resist, in whatever way they can, then ultimately the legacy of the dictator, the demagogue, and the usurper, and their minions end. It is time to recognize the illusion painted by state propaganda on state television or on television news shows that which consistently denies the truth. Such lies place the lives of its own viewers in jeopardy. To ignore the safety and health of the citizenry is to be negligent of the most basic rules of government - to protect the citizenry - in order to guarantee its general welfare. To believe in conspiracy theories is becoming an international sickness, a virus of its own making, spread via the internet to deceive weak-minded individuals during dangerous times.
The America-Eurasia Center supports ideals of America. The freedom of religion, speech, press, assembly, and the right to petition. President Roosevelt offered four freedoms on his Annual Address to Congress on January 6, 1941 - the four freedoms - freedom of worship, press, freedom from want, and freedom from fear. Please consider supporting our efforts to support the ideals of peace, liberty and toleration, which form the backbone of our nation.
Thank you for your grassroots support over the past 35 years, as we continue to find solutions to "Help the World Find Peace." Please consider supporting our Programs as we continue to deliver Great Projects and Great Programs! We have new offices at 1717 K Street NW, Washington, DC and we will be organizing important discussions with the authors and leaders of our time.

AN APPEAL FOR YOUR SUPPORT - 2023
Is Year Round Not Just for the Holidays
Let Us Help the World Find Peace!
Build Positive Relations between America, Europe and Asia (Eurasia)
The 10th Program – Uplifting Africa is also Vital
The World is in turmoil. Nations are leaving arms control treaties. There is an uncheck arms race among all nations and there are a larger number of hot spots across Europe and Asia which can ignite to create future wars, not to mention the accidental firing of nuclear weapons or terrorist obtaining weapons of mass destruction.
Washington, DC, Moscow, Paris, London, Beijing, Tokyo, etc. and all the nations of the world are at risk. Let us not forget the great peace dividend which Presidents Ronald Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev gave us years ago, when we chose an alternative road away from Armageddon toward peace. Your home, your city, your town, or your village will be at risk in the future if like-minded people do not band together and express the need to choose an alternative path for world development. The previous two World Wars occurred with the same troubling nationalist rivalries that are happening today. John F. Kennedy fought in World War II and went to the brink of war during the Cuban Missile Crisis...yet he gave his greatest speech linked below for reducing the arms race for the success of
Liberty.
The America-Eurasia Center is the only think tank in America addressing these crises in a holistic fashion and offering alternatives. Help fund our Nine Programs which are designed to build positive relations among nations and help the America-Eurasia Center experts continue to come up with solutions to address these important issues. We reach out to over 300,000 people who are interested in international affairs, the ideals of peace and freedom, and what America should stand for. We embrace other peoples of the world as we seek to understand their cultures and ideas, as we seek to build long lasting friendships and peaceful relations.
